In a dramatic twist to the chilling honeymoon murder case, Meghalaya's Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken 25-year-old Sonam Raghuvanshi back to Cherrapunji (Sohra) to reconstruct the crime scene, with assistance from her alleged aides who were also arrested . Sonam is accused of orchestrating the brutal killing of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during what was supposed to be their romantic getaway. Authorities believe she hired four men, allegedly including her former employee and lover, to carry out the murder near Weisawdong Falls.
Raja’s decomposed body - with a slit throat and missing belongings - was recovered on June 2, after the couple disappeared on May 23 . Sonam initially vanished but later surrendered in Ghazipur. Police allege a calculated plot planned months in advance, involving at least four men and a complex conspiracy.
The reconstruction aims to validate testimonies, gather scene-specific evidence, and pinpoint roles in the killing. With national media attention and emotional turmoil for both families, the SIT's next steps will determine how deep the betrayal and premeditation run - and could shape the course of this horrifying case.
