How Bapu Dham Earned the Title of ‘Anupam Colony’

When you think of a model residential colony, what comes to mind? Clean streets, green parks, responsible citizens, and smart systems to manage waste. That’s exactly what Bapu Dham in Chanakyapuri has achieved, so much so that the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has declared it the city’s fourth ‘Anupam Colony’.

The recognition comes under the campaign “Swachh and Green Tomorrow Together”, where NDMC identifies colonies that go the extra mile in cleanliness and environmental protection. Bapu Dham stood out for its consistent efforts in segregating waste, making compost from organic waste, and ensuring recycling becomes part of daily life.

To mark the achievement, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra unveiled the ‘Anupam Colony’ board. Residents and officials joined hands in celebrating the success. A tempo carrying organic compost to nearby gardens was flagged off, a neem sapling was planted, and a unique ‘Wall of Kindness’ was launched, allowing people to donate reusable items.

NDMC Secretary Tariq Thomas and Advisor (SWM) Rajiv Kumar Jain were specially appreciated for their guidance and support in making these initiatives successful. What makes Bapu Dham even more special is its leap into modern solutions. With the opening of a Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) center and adoption of mechanized cleaning, it became the first NDMC colony to embrace advanced systems for daily sanitation.

Bapu Dham’s journey proves how community effort, innovation, and strong leadership can transform a neighborhood into a shining example for the entire city.
