In a small town of Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district, 14-year-old Vasundhara Nangare dreamed big with very little. Her practice court in Kalamb was rough and uneven, flooded during monsoons, but her love for squash kept her going. With no coach around, she found her teacher in YouTube videos. Night after night, she replayed clips of international players, learning grips, movements, and strategies alongside her father.
Her first big moment came in 2022 when, just six months into the game, she won a state-level tournament in Pune. That victory set her on a path that caught the eye of grassroots mentor Abhinav Sinha, who began guiding her with professional training in Mumbai. Despite limited family income, her parents supported her dream, making sacrifices to ensure she never missed tournaments or coaching sessions.
By 2025, Vasundhara secured third place in the Under-15 Asian Junior Trials, earning a spot on India’s junior squash team. Today, she inspires dozens of children in her village who crowd around the same broken court, learning from her strokes and her story — proof that determination can turn the impossible into reality.
