Kolkata Police have taken three individuals into custody in connection with the alleged gang‑rape of a female student at Kasba Law College, authorities confirmed on Friday. The accused group comprises one alumnus and two current students of the college, as per Kolkata Police sources.
The victim, a student at the institution, reported the assault to police, prompting an immediate investigation. Law enforcement officials are now examining CCTV footage and conducting forensic analysis at the campus site. Preliminary findings suggest the attack occurred within the law college premises, intensifying concerns about student safety .
The arrests followed swift action: all three suspects were located and detained in the Talbagan area. Police are continuing their probe into the incident, including interviews with witnesses and further evidence collection.
This incident has reignited a larger debate over the security of educational institutions in Kolkata. Past cases of sexual violence on campus have already sparked public anger and demands for improved safety protocols. Authorities have vowed to strengthen measures to prevent recurrence, with calls growing louder for stricter campus safeguards.
