In a significant shake-up in the digital media space, meme marketing agency Wubba Lubba Dub Dub (WLDD) has acquired ScoopWhoop from content-to-commerce unicorn, The Good Glamm Group. This marks Good Glamm's second major sale in just a week.
While the company confirmed the acquisition on Instagram, it remained tight-lipped about the financial specifics. However, reports suggest the deal is valued at approximately Rs 20 crore and was finalized just a week ago.
The transaction is structured as an all-asset sale, meaning WLDD gains control of ScoopWhoop's intellectual property but takes on none of its liabilities.
Founded seven years ago, WLDD has made a name for itself in meme marketing and also operates a creator marketing school in Bengaluru.
Why Good Glamm Let Go of ScoopWhoop?
Good Glamm originally acquired ScoopWhoop in 2021 for around Rs 100 crore, aiming to expand its digital media footprint. However, as the company sharpened its focus on the beauty and personal care sector, ScoopWhoop's largely male-dominated audience no longer aligned with its core business strategy.
This sale follows another recent move by Good Glamm, where it returned Sirona Hygiene to its original founders.
What's Next for Good Glamm?
In recent months, the company reportedly explored selling stakes in brands like Organic Harvest, The Moms Co., and media platforms such as POPxo and MissMalini. However, insiders told The Economic Times that these deals have been put on hold, citing reasons such as financial concerns and a strategic shift at the group level.
With ScoopWhoop now in WLDD's hands, it’ll be interesting to see how the meme marketing agency leverages the platform to amplify its influence in digital content.
