After weeks of rising heat and humidity, relief is finally in sight for Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the arrival of the monsoon on June 24, bringing much-needed showers to the capital. A yellow alert has been issued, warning residents to prepare for light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning over the coming days.
According to the IMD, Delhi will see a generally cloudy sky, with spells of rainfall that could cool temperatures and improve air quality. The approaching monsoon is expected to reduce heatwave conditions across north India, offering respite to millions.
The yellow alert signals potential disruptions, especially in traffic and low-lying areas prone to waterlogging. Citizens are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take precautions when venturing outdoors.
With water shortages and dust-laden winds troubling the region in recent weeks, the monsoon’s arrival may bring more than just cooler weather - it could be the city’s first real breath of fresh air this season.
