Why moving closer to china could backfire on India!

The imposition of steep U.S. tariffs—25 % immediately, with another 25 % set to follow—has sparked fears in India of being economically coerced into alignment with China. Critics argue that surrendering to Beijing’s orbit may compromise India’s strategic autonomy and border integrity, particularly as China continues its assertive activities along the disputed Line of Actual Control. Experts emphasize that India’s strength lies in maintaining strategic independence, avoiding overreliance on either global superpower.

Despite the current trade fallout with Washington, India should reinforce its multi‑aligned stance, deepen cooperation with groups like the Quad, and expand partnerships that safeguard its economic resilience.

Ultimately, embracing China under duress could weaken India’s negotiating leverage and compromise its sovereign interests true autonomy demands patience and diversified diplomatic engagement, not hasty realignment.
