NEET-UG 2025 will not be held again, rules Madras high court!

The Madras High Court on Thursday, July 3, 2025, upheld a single judge’s decision refusing to reconduct the NEET-UG 2025 exam for students who faced power disruptions at certain centres due to heavy rainfall on May 4.

A Division Bench ruled that while the grievances of affected candidates were understandable, a re-examination would not be feasible or fair to the larger group of aspirants who took the test under normal conditions. The bench noted that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had taken adequate steps to conduct the exam fairly and there was no substantial evidence to suggest large-scale disadvantage or malpractice.

Petitioners argued that the power failure affected their concentration and performance, calling it a violation of their right to equal opportunity. However, the court held that isolated technical glitches, though unfortunate, did not justify a blanket re-exam.

The ruling puts an end to speculation around a potential re-test and reaffirms the original NEET-UG 2025 results as valid and final.
