Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Namibia on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, marking the final leg of his five-nation diplomatic tour. Modi was welcomed with ceremonial honours in Windhoek and is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
This visit marks a significant moment in India–Namibia relations, as it is Modi’s first trip to the African nation as Prime Minister. The two leaders are expected to discuss a wide range of topics including renewable energy cooperation, trade partnerships, digital infrastructure, wildlife conservation, and India’s growing engagement with Africa through capacity building and development assistance.
The meeting is part of Modi’s broader outreach strategy to strengthen India’s ties with the Global South. Earlier stops on his tour included visits to Russia, Austria, the UAE, and Kenya - each aimed at enhancing strategic partnerships and economic collaboration.
The Namibia visit is expected to culminate with the signing of multiple MoUs and joint statements, reinforcing India’s commitment to Africa’s development and partnership on the global stage.
