The Kerala High Court issued summons to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on June 10, 2025, in response to an election petition filed by BJP leader Navya Haridas, who lost the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll on November 13, 2024. Haridas alleges corrupt practices and non-disclosure of assets owned by Priyanka and her husband, Robert Vadra, in her nomination affidavit, seeking to annul Priyanka’s victory. The petition, heard by Justice K Babu, claims Priyanka concealed immovable properties and investments, violating the Model Code of Conduct. The case is scheduled for August 2025.
Priyanka won Wayanad, a Congress stronghold, by a 4,10,931-vote margin against CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri, with Haridas placing third. Congress dismissed Haridas’s claims as “cheap publicity,” with Pramod Tiwari defending Priyanka’s landslide victory. Haridas’s December 2024 petition also accused Priyanka of undue influence on voters, intensifying the political controversy surrounding the bypoll.
