Rohit Sharma recently addressed rumors about his retirement, dismissing them in an interview during the India vs Australia Test series. He clarified that he had not retired but stood down from the current match due to a form-related decision. Rohit explained that he had struggled with his batting form, which led him to step aside in favor of a player in better form. He emphasized that the decision was made with the team's best interests in mind.
Rohit reflected on his long career, stating that no external opinions could dictate when he should retire. As a seasoned cricketer and a father, he assured that he knows what’s best for him and the team. He revealed that his decision to step aside was made after arriving in Sydney, following his poor performance in previous matches. He added that focusing on the present and the team's needs was his priority.
Rohit also praised Jasprit Bumrah's leadership, noting his consistent growth since 2013. Despite the challenging phase in his own career, Rohit expressed confidence that things could improve over time, and he was not ready to step away from Test cricket. His transparency and maturity were evident as he spoke about prioritizing the team’s needs and ensuring the right decisions were made for the collective success.
