A portrait of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled at the MCC Museum at Lord’s on Thursday (July 10, 2025), just ahead of the start of the third Test between India and England in London. This tribute further strengthens Tendulkar’s legacy at the iconic ground, often referred to as the “Mecca of Cricket.”
The artwork, created by British artist Stuart Pearson Wright, is based on a photograph taken 18 years ago during a visit to Tendulkar’s home. Though the former Indian captain famously never scored a century at Lord’s, the portrait symbolizes his global cricketing stature and long-standing association with the sport's most hallowed venue.
The portrait will remain on display at the MCC Museum through the remainder of the year, after which it will be relocated to the Lord’s Pavilion - a space reserved for cricketing greats.
This unveiling serves as a fitting tribute to Tendulkar’s contribution to the game and comes on a day when India takes the field at the very ground where his name is now enshrined.
