"Serve the Nation, We'll serve your family": New legal aid for soldiers!

On Kargil Vijay Diwas (July 26), the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has unveiled the Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025, aiming to provide free legal aid clinics for serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families. The scheme will roll out nationwide via legal services clinics established at Sainik Welfare Boards in multiple states.

Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of NALSA, is set to virtually inaugurate the programme. This includes the launch of a dedicated free legal aid clinic at the Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Corporation headquarters in Hamirpur, alongside similar setups across other states, including Assam’s Rajgarh and Tripura’s Sainik Board. Each clinic will have panel lawyers and NALSA-appointed para-legal volunteers, some of whom are retired servicemen, offering empathetic legal guidance.

Officials highlighted that the initiative acts as a tribute to India’s armed forces, delivering legal support across issues like pensions, property disputes, and benefits claims - without cost or hassle. According to NALSA, it reinforces their motto: "Access to Justice for All." This scheme aims to relieve soldiers from the domestic legal burden while they stand guard at the nation's borders.
