US stays calm on India–Pakistan ties amid nuclear talk!

Amid rising tensions sparked by Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s nuclear-tinged threats against India during a dinner in Tampa, the United States has emphasized that its diplomatic posture remains steady—committed equally to both India and Pakistan.

Munir’s remarks—reportedly made on US soil—referenced a willingness to “take half the world down” if faced with an existential threat, and a vow to destroy Indian dams with “ten missiles”, heightening alarm over regional security. India branded these as reckless “nuclear sabre-rattling.”

Despite this escalation of rhetoric, the US spokesperson reiterated that Washington’s bilateral relations with both countries remain unaffected, underscoring its role in facilitating peace and stability in South Asia.

In parliament, Indian lawmakers questioned how such threats could be made from the territory of a “friendly” nation, signaling potential diplomatic repercussions with Washington.

The episode underscores the delicate balance the US seeks to maintain—condemning inflammatory rhetoric while upholding strategic partnerships on both sides of a fraught regional divide.
