Storm hits Delhi: Roads flooded, flights affected!

A spirited burst of early morning monsoon rain on July 7, 2025, brought a welcome break to Delhi-NCR's oppressive heat and humidity. However, the downpour quickly caused waterlogging across key arteries including Rohtak Road and Mehrauli-Badarpur, prompting traffic advisories and commuter delays during peak hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert, forecasting continuing light to moderate rainfall with possible thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. The forecast signals a sustained period of wet weather through midweek, as the monsoon trough shifts north accompanied by a Western Disturbance.

Air travel has been affected - IndiGo and IGI Airport urged passengers to check flight status and to prefer Delhi Metro due to road congestion and potential delays. On a positive note, the rains have significantly reduced temperatures to around 33–34 °C and improved the air quality, offering respite from the heat.

Residents are advised to plan commutes cautiously, avoid waterlogged roads, and stay alert for further weather updates—especially as the IMD maintains an orange alert indication for heavy rainfall risks later this week.
