The Indian Startup turning Junk into a Billion-Dollar Industry!

India generates more than 3.2 million tonnes of e-waste every year - and over 95 % of it is processed informally, with dire environmental and health consequences. Enter Attero: founded by brothers Nitin Gupta and Rohan Gupta, the startup has built India’s most advanced recycling facility in Roorkee that recovers upwards of 98 % of materials from e-waste.

Through platforms like MetalMandi (digitising the scrap market) and Selsmart (consumer-facing e-waste collection), Attero is formalising the upstream and downstream of the industry while creating livelihood opportunities. Indian startup Attero turns discarded electronics into valuable materials like gold and lithium-ion batteries, driving a circular economy.Their technology extracts gold, silver, copper, lithium, cobalt and nickel from discarded electronics and batteries, turning what was once waste into value. In doing so, Attero is tapping into a hidden billion-dollar market and helping India shift from linear consumption to a circular economy.
