At just 24, Naman Sharma runs Aashiyana by Naman & Welfare Trust in Delhi, a shelter caring for over 200 rescued animals - from dogs and cats to monkeys and even nilgai. What began in Class 6, when he tried saving an injured pigeon, has grown into a full-fledged rescue mission handling 10–20 emergency calls daily across north-west Delhi and parts of western Uttar Pradesh.
The shelter recently set up an in-house clinic performing surgeries like tumour removals, amputations, and sterilisations. But one critical gap remains - an animal CBC machine. Every surgery requires a blood test, and without an in-house analyser, the team must rely on external labs, costing money and precious time in emergencies.
The machine costs around Rs 3 lakh. For animals battling poisoning, accidents, or infections, faster testing could mean the difference between life and death.
