A tragic wall collapse at a homestay near Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, claimed the life of a woman and injured at least 10 others early on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours when a section of the homestay’s wall suddenly gave way, trapping several occupants beneath the debris. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and locals helped pull victims out from under the rubble. The deceased woman’s identity has not yet been released, and the injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where some are reported to be in serious condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, with initial suspicions pointing to structural weakness and recent rainfall weakening the foundation. Officials are also assessing whether the homestay followed building safety norms.
This incident has raised fresh concerns about unregulated accommodations in pilgrimage areas like Bageshwar Dham, which attract heavy footfall year-round.
