As Maha Kumbh 2025 reaches its zenith, preparations for Magh Purnima snan on February 12 are in full swing. With millions of devotees gathering at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Police and the administration have implemented extensive security and traffic measures to ensure a smooth experience.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the spiritual significance of the occasion, urging devotees to participate in bathing, charity, and worship. Magh Purnima marks the conclusion of the one-month kalpavas ritual, making it a significant bathing festival for Kalpavasis and pilgrims alike.
To manage the massive crowd, the administration has declared the fairground a 'No Vehicle' zone. All private and public vehicles are being directed to designated parking areas, with only emergency services allowed access. The vehicles of Kalpavasis are permitted entry only after their ritual baths.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has reviewed arrangements at eight railway stations to accommodate the influx of devotees. Meanwhile, secondary schools in Prayagraj have shifted to online classes from February 7 to 12 to ease traffic and ensure student safety.
Since Maha Kumbh began on January 13, over 45 crore devotees have taken a holy dip. The remaining bathing festivals, including Magh Purnima and Maha Shivaratri on February 26, are expected to push the total number of participants to over 500 million.
CM Adityanath has directed officials to ensure no inconvenience to devotees, emphasizing the importance of the sacred occasion. Enhanced security, emergency evacuation plans, and traffic regulations are in place to ensure a safe and orderly bathing festival.
