Voltas has received a show cause notice from Central GST authorities demanding an explanation for an alleged ₹265.25 crore tax shortfall. The notice, issued by the Principal Commissioner of Central GST Commissionerate, Dehradun, pertains to alleged short payment of Goods and Services Tax for financial years 2018-19 to 2020-21.
The tax demand relates to Universal Comfort Products Limited, which merged with Voltas during FY 2020-21. The notice, issued under the Central GST Act along with Uttarakhand GST Act and Integrated GST Act provisions, seeks explanation on why the tax demand should not be raised with applicable interest and penalties.
Voltas stated it is evaluating the matter and will submit its reply within the prescribed timeframe.
