A powerful explosion rocked Rajoa village in Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, late on July 4, when a crude bomb detonated in an abandoned house allegedly used for bomb-making. The blast, which occurred around 8:30 pm, was so forceful that it blew off the tin roof and rattled windows in nearby homes, sending shockwaves through the locality .
Tragically, one person died, and another - identified as Tufan Chowdhury - sustained serious injuries. Local residents linked the site to anti-social elements frequently gathering there to manufacture crude explosives .
Police and a forensic team arrived promptly to investigate. They recovered a charred body, shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, and secured the site for evidence collection. Authorities are now probing potential wider networks involved in bomb-making and have stepped up security in the area.
This incident raises concerns about unattended properties in rural areas being misused for illicit activities. Local police are intensifying patrols to prevent similar tragedies.
