If you have ever visited a Hanuman temple, you've probably seen devotees offering boondi or boondi ladoos as prasad. But have you ever wondered why? The answer lies in a mix of faith, symbolism, and an interesting legend!
According to popular belief, Hanuman Ji loves sweets, especially ladoos. Devotees offer them as a token of love and devotion, seeking his blessings for strength and protection.
Boondi ladoos, with their saffron-orange hue, are often linked to sindoor, a color deeply associated with Hanuman Ji. A famous legend tells us that when Hanuman saw Sita applying sindoor for Lord Rama's long life, he smeared his entire body with it, thinking it would make Rama immortal. Since ladoos resemble sindoor in color, they became a fitting offering!
Boondi consists of tiny droplets, signifying collective devotion and humility, qualities that define Hanuman Ji. Offering it is believed to bring courage, remove obstacles, and grant protection from negative energies.
That's why, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays, devotees offer boondi prasad in temples, seeking Hanuman Ji's divine grace.
