Women's World Cup Heroes to be felicitated by PM Modi!

Following their historic triumph in the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, India’s women’s cricket team will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, 5 November, for a special felicitation ceremony.\
The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at Navi Mumbai to claim their first-ever World Cup title, prompting widespread celebration nationwide.

While the felicitation by the Prime Minister underscores the magnitude of the achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unlikely to organise a victory parade for the team - unlike what’s sometimes done for men’s team triumphs. Officials have indicated that no parade has been planned yet, with decisions to follow after ICC meetings.
The BCCI has already announced a record-breaking cash reward of ₹51 crore for the champions.
This blend of high-level recognition and modest public runway reflects a shifting landscape in how women’s sport is celebrated in India - markedly different from past traditions, yet resonant with new possibilities.
