Train passengers travelling through Central Railway stations may soon have to spend more on their favourite snacks and meals. Railway authorities have announced revised food prices at station catering stalls starting June 1.
Popular items like vada pav, samosa, dosa, idli, veg puff and pav bhaji are expected to see noticeable price hikes across several stations. Officials say the revision is part of efforts to improve food quality and catering services for passengers.
According to reports, snacks and fast-food items available at station stalls will now cost more than current prices. Railway authorities have also instructed vendors to maintain better hygiene standards and display updated rate charts clearly for travellers.
The move has triggered mixed reactions among passengers. While some commuters believe better food quality is necessary, many daily travellers are worried about rising travel expenses and increasing food costs during regular journeys.
Railway officials say inspections will be conducted regularly to prevent overcharging and ensure proper food quality standards are followed at stations.
With food prices rising at railway stations, passengers may now need to spend extra even on basic travel snacks during their journeys.
