Parliament’s Monsoon Session resumes on Monday, July 28, 2025, with a high-stakes, 16-hour special debate in Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor, India’s cross‑border military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to initiate the discussion, while Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and BJP parliamentarians including Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey are also expected to speak.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to intervene in both the Lok Sabha debate and the follow‑on 16‑hour session in Rajya Sabha on July 29. Modi has framed Operation Sindoor as a message of India’s zero‑tolerance policy on terrorism and a demonstration of its national resolve.
The opposition INDIA bloc is preparing a coordinated counter‑offensive, pressing the government on alleged intelligence lapses tied to the Pahalgam tragedy and disputing foreign claims—particularly remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump—of external mediation in the ceasefire. Opposition leaders such as Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Harish Balayogi, and others are slated to speak .
With the opposition raising concerns on both strategy and credibility, the debate marks a shift from a week of parliamentary disruption to a substantive face–off between the ruling NDA and opposition over national security, foreign policy, and government accountability.
