Union Home Minister Amit Shah has lauded the implementation of the Next-Gen Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, describing them as a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to serving the nation's farmers, youth, and women.

The new GST structure, effective from September 22, 2025, introduces significant tax reductions on over 390 essential goods, including food staples, healthcare items, and educational materials. This move aims to alleviate financial burdens on households and promote savings among the middle class.

Shah emphasized that these reforms are designed to stimulate both production and consumption, fostering a "trust-based tax system" that enhances transparency and efficiency. He also highlighted the government's focus on promoting indigenous products, aligning with the "Swadeshi" initiative to bolster national pride and self-reliance.

Overall, the Next-Gen GST reforms are positioned as a strategic move towards a more prosperous and self-reliant India.
