RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday emphasized the historic significance of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, calling the consecration date "Pratishtha Dwadashi" and likening it to the true independence of Bharat. Speaking in Indore, Bhagwat noted that Bharat, having endured centuries of foreign aggression, now stands ready to guide the world by awakening its “self” (swa).
The grand consecration ceremony, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took place on January 22, 2024. According to the Hindu lunar calendar, the first anniversary of this landmark event falls on January 11, 2025. Bhagwat clarified that the Ram Temple movement aimed to unite and elevate the nation's spirit, not to oppose any group.
The remarks came during the presentation of the prestigious "National Devi Ahilya Award" to Champat Rai, general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Rai dedicated the award to the known and unsung heroes of the movement, crediting them for the grand temple's realization. Calling the Ram Temple a symbol of national pride, Rai expressed gratitude for his role as a humble medium in its construction.
The event also highlighted plans for a grand memorial to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, the revered ruler of the Holkar dynasty, aimed at educating future generations about her legacy.
The National Devi Ahilya Award, established by Shri Ahilyotsav Samiti, has honored prominent figures like Nanaji Deshmukh, Sudha Murty, and Raghunath Anant Mashelkar for their societal contributions.
