Public Interest Litigations (PILs) were created to help people fight for justice when the government or authorities failed to act. However, a Supreme Court judge recently made a shocking statement today, the 'P' in PIL seems to stand for paisa (money), publicity, and private interests, instead of public good.
Many people and organizations are now filing PILs not to help society but to gain media attention, push personal agendas, or settle business disputes. This misuse of PILs is wasting the court's time and making it harder for real cases to get justice.
In recent years, the courts have dismissed many PILs, calling them fake or "publicity stunts." Instead of helping common people, some PILs are being used by wealthy and powerful people for their own benefit.
Legal experts believe that the judiciary must take strict action against such cases. If this misuse continues, PILs will no longer be a tool for justice, but a way for some people to get quick fame and financial gains.
The Supreme Court's comment is a strong warning. If PILs keep being misused for money and publicity, will the common people still be able to use them for real justice? Or will this powerful legal tool lose its true meaning forever?
