In a fascinating turn of events, actor Kangana Ranaut, who is portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her upcoming film Emergency, invited Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to watch the film. The invitation was extended during an interaction in Parliament, where Kangana expressed that Priyanka would find the film interesting, hinting at the depth and sensitivity with which she has portrayed the iconic leader.

The period drama, set against the backdrop of the 1975 Indian Emergency, is not just a historical account but a respectful exploration of a significant chapter in India’s political history. Kangana, who not only stars in but also directs the film, emphasized that her portrayal of Indira Gandhi is marked by dignity and careful research. She remarked, “I believe it’s a very sensitive and sensible portrayal of one episode and one personality,” alluding to the careful consideration she put into presenting the former PM’s complex persona.

Kangana further revealed how, during her research, she chose not to focus on sensational aspects of Indira Gandhi's life, particularly her personal relationships, which have often overshadowed her political career. “When it comes to women, they are always reduced to their equation with men,” Kangana noted. Her decision to delve deeper into the political and historical significance of the period demonstrates her commitment to presenting a nuanced and respectful portrayal.

With a stellar cast featuring Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade, Emergency is sure to spark discussions and reflections on India's turbulent political landscape. Scheduled for release on January 17, the film promises to offer audiences a unique perspective on one of the most pivotal moments in Indian history.
