Brisil Technologies, a climate-tech startup focused on sustainable industrial materials, has raised ₹3 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Momentum Capital, with participation from Fondation Botnar. The new capital will be used to expand production capacity, strengthen the team and scale operations to meet rising global demand for green materials.
Founded in 2016 by Tanmay Pandya, Brisil aims to create a circular economy for silica, an industrially vital material used in tyres, footwear, paints and more. Instead of relying on traditional silica sources like river sand and quartz — which are environmentally damaging and carbon-intensive — Brisil’s proprietary zero-waste chemical process converts rice husk ash, a by-product of agricultural and power plant operations, into high-value, dispersible precipitated silica. This sustainable alternative significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and utilises agricultural waste that would otherwise contribute to pollution.
Brisil already serves domestic and international customers and operates a commercial plant with a 400 tonnes per month capacity. With this funding, the company plans to scale up to 3,000–5,000 tonnes per month, strengthen supply chains, and deepen its footprint in markets across South-East Asia and Europe — where demand for environmentally responsible materials is growing.
By turning waste into eco-efficient industrial inputs, Brisil’s model exemplifies how climate tech can drive both sustainability and economic value.
