Dr Dmitry Yaranov, a prominent cardiologist, recently shared a crucial warning: high-protein diets while popular for weight loss and muscle building can dangerously affect heart health. In a social media post, he highlighted that excessive protein, especially from animal sources, may elevate LDL cholesterol, trigger chronic inflammation, damage blood vessel linings, and speed early artery hardening (atherosclerosis).
Yaranov cites cases of seemingly fit adults in their 30s collapsing from sudden heart attacks despite no prior symptoms. “The outside looks like a machine,” he notes, “but the inside tells a different story” . Being lean or muscular isn’t a guarantee of internal cardiovascular health.
He urges a balanced diet focused on plant-based foods, routine blood tests, and resistance or strength training over extreme dietary trends. Moderation is key: instead of following high-protein fads, individuals should monitor markers like cholesterol and inflammation btrue thumpers of heart wellness. Dr Yaranov’s message is clear: visible fitness alone may mask unseen damage prioritize long-term health over short-term gains.
