In a deeply disturbing case, a 39-year-old chartered accountant from Mumbai died by suicide after allegedly being blackmailed for ₹3 crore by a woman he met online. According to police reports, the victim came into contact with the woman through a social media platform. Their interaction escalated into personal exchanges, eventually leading to the creation of a private video. The woman later used this video to extort a substantial amount from the victim.

The situation deteriorated over time as the CA was pressured into transferring ₹3 crore to avoid the video being made public. A suicide note was recovered from his residence, detailing the immense psychological toll the harassment had on him.

The police have filed a case of abetment to suicide and extortion, and investigations are currently underway to track the accused. The incident raises serious concerns over online privacy, the mental health of professionals, and the growing threat of digital blackmail in the era of social media and messaging platforms.
