In a significant breach of national security, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, Moti Ram Jat, from Delhi for allegedly sharing classified information with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) since 2023.
According to an NIA spokesperson, Jat was actively involved in espionage activities, transmitting sensitive data related to national security to PIOs in exchange for monetary compensation. The funds were reportedly funneled through various conduits, indicating a well-organized network.
The CRPF has confirmed that Jat acted in violation of established norms and protocols. He was handed over to the NIA for further investigation and has been dismissed from service effective May 21 under the relevant provisions and rules.
A special court has remanded Jat to NIA custody until June 6, allowing the agency to delve deeper into the extent of the security breach and identify any potential collaborators.
