Delhi-NCR is currently facing a sharp surge of H3N2 flu cases, leaving many families worried. According to surveys, almost 7 out of 10 households have reported at least one person down with flu-like illness this month. What makes H3N2 concerning is its longer recovery time and higher risk of complications, especially in children, elderly people, and those with diabetes, asthma, or heart disease.
Doctors highlight symptoms like persistent fever beyond 3–4 days, continuous cough, breathing difficulty, fatigue, and even nausea or diarrhoea as warning signs not to be ignored. Unlike the usual seasonal flu that resolves within a week, H3N2 often lingers for 10 days or more, making patients feel drained.
Hospitals in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad are seeing more admissions for pneumonia and respiratory issues. Experts advise rest, hydration, warm fluids, and prescribed medicines—while cautioning against unnecessary use of antibiotics. Masks, regular handwashing, and avoiding crowded places remain the best preventive tools. Annual flu vaccines are also recommended for vulnerable groups. Early detection and timely medical care are crucial to staying safe during this outbreak.
