Dream11 — once India’s leading fantasy-sports platform — has undergone a dramatic transformation. In the wake of the new ban on real-money online games, the company has officially ended paid contests and pivoted strongly toward a “second-screen” sports experience. Its new avatar is less about betting and more about bringing fans together.
Under the revamped model, users can join livestreams hosted by sports creators during matches, react in real-time, chat, and engage socially — creating a watch-party vibe that mimics being in a stadium or living room full of friends. For those tired of watching games alone, this “fan-hangout” format hopes to build community and shared excitement.
Alongside livestreams, Dream11 also introduces a free-to-play fantasy element, while monetization shifts to ads, sponsorships and fan-interaction tools. The newly relaunched loyalty program — DreamBucks — lets users earn and spend points during streams, shout out creators or highlight chats, creating a value exchange beyond money games.
By repositioning itself as a sports-entertainment and fan-engagement platform, Dream11 aims to survive regulatory disruption — and possibly redefine how fans consume sports in India: as a social, shared, and interactive experience rather than a betting game.
