DU Students welcome Clean and Green Voting as DUSU Polls witness strong turnout!

Delhi University’s 2025 Students’ Union (DUSU) elections were marked by students’ optimism for “clean and green” polls as voting took place across 52 colleges on September 18. More than 2.75 lakh students were eligible to vote, with polling held in two phases - morning for day scholars and evening for hostel residents and evening classes .

Students welcomed new guidelines, including the rule disqualifying candidates with less than 75% attendance, which many felt would improve accountability and student representation . Security was tightened with over 600 police personnel, drones, CCTVs, and body-worn cameras deployed across campuses .

A key highlight this year was the stronger presence of women candidates contesting top posts, fielded by NSUI and the Left alliance. However, concerns remain over allegations of vote-luring and misuse of money and muscle, issues the Delhi High Court recently flagged.

Counting is scheduled for September 19, with students hoping for fair results that truly represent campus voices.
