Dubai is set to take global air travel to new heights with the announcement of the world's largest airport terminal at a staggering cost of $35 billion. The project, aimed at boosting Dubai's status as a global travel hub, will feature 400 gates and five parallel runways, ensuring it can handle a mind-boggling 260 million passengers annually.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and UAE Prime Minister, made the exciting announcement on X, revealing the ambitious plans for Al Maktoum International Airport. Once completed, this new terminal will be five times the size of the existing Dubai International Airport, offering unparalleled capacity to handle the increasing flow of international travelers.
The new airport will not just be an aviation hub but a city in itself. Located within Dubai South, the airport will support housing for over a million people, along with world-leading companies in logistics and air transport. Scheduled to be completed within 10 years, the project will have a profound impact on Dubai's economy, ensuring continuous growth for future generations.
As Dubai continues to soar in global tourism, with a record 17.15 million visitors in 2023, the new airport terminal will solidify the emirate's position as a central global hub. "Dubai will be the world's airport, port, and urban center," Sheikh Mohammed stated, reflecting the city's forward-thinking ambitions for the future.
In the coming years, this project will reshape the global aviation landscape-one gate at a time.
