Tvasta, a Chennai-based deep-tech startup incubated at IIT Madras, has achieved a remarkable milestone in the Indian construction industry by building the nation's first 3D printed villa.
Located at Godrej Eden Estates in Pune, the 2,200 sq. ft. villa was constructed entirely on-site using a concrete 3D printer, in partnership with Godrej Properties. This project signifies a major advancement in sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient construction practices in India.
Founded in 2016 by IIT Madras alumni, Tvasta uses robotics, automation, and 3D printing to deliver faster and more eco-friendly construction methods.
The company's 3D printing platform combines additive manufacturing technology with recycled materials from various industries, helping to reduce construction waste and environmental impact.
This innovative method constructs buildings layer by layer, cutting down project completion times and eliminating the need for traditional formwork.
The 3D-printed villa features improved insulation, reducing energy usage and utility costs. The project highlights Tvasta's ability to create complex, customized architectural designs with precision, all while addressing the challenges of high material costs and inefficient construction timelines.
