Delhi University’s recently released tentative exam schedule has triggered sharp backlash from its faculty, who say the calendar creates a month-long overlap between end‐semester exams and the start of new semester classes. Under the plan, odd-semester exams run from December 10, 2025, to January 30, 2026, while even-semester classes begin on January 2, 2026.
“This is not how a university functions. It's a circus all over the place,” remarked one teacher, adding that “the clowns running the show make us feel like tramps and vagabonds in a theatre of the absurd.” Educators warn that faculty will be forced to juggle teaching, invigilation, evaluation, and practicals all at once.
Critics also point out logistical constraints: classroom space will be overstretched, especially as exams, regular lectures, and sessions for SOL and NCWEB students run concurrently. Teachers demand a revised calendar, stressing that the overlap endangers academic quality, student welfare, and timely results.
Until DU responds, the faculty’s frustration signals deep unease with a system that seems rushed and misaligned with real teaching and evaluation needs.
