Ex-PM of Bangladesh Jailed - Sheikh Hasina faces 6-month sentence

Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to six months in prison for contempt of court by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). The verdict was delivered Wednesday by a three-member bench led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder.

The tribunal also sentenced Shakil Akand Bulbul of Gobindaganj in Gaibandha to two months in prison in the same ruling. This marks the first conviction against the former Awami League leader since she fled the country and left office 11 months ago.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 delivered the judgment amid ongoing legal proceedings against the former prime minister, who remains outside Bangladesh following her departure from power.
