🇮🇳 India: Subhas Chandra Bose’s last flight (1945)

On 18 August 1945, one of the most debated events in Indian history took place. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the leader of the Indian National Army (INA), reportedly died in a plane crash in Taiwan. While official records suggested he suffered fatal burns, the mystery of his disappearance continues to spark theories even today. Many believe he survived and lived in disguise, keeping his dream of a free India alive. Netaji’s courage, defiance against British rule, and slogan “Give me blood, and I will give you freedom” still inspire millions.

World: The Great Spanish Armada defeated (1588)

On 18 August 1588, one of the most decisive naval battles in world history ended. The mighty Spanish Armada, sent by King Philip II to invade England, was defeated by the smaller but agile English navy under Queen Elizabeth I’s rule. Storms in the English Channel further destroyed the Armada, marking the decline of Spain as a dominant sea power and the rise of England as a global force. This victory reshaped Europe’s political balance and paved the way for Britain’s colonial expansion.
