Eye Symptoms Indicating Kidney Trouble!

Your eyes can reveal early signs of kidney dysfunction, especially in those with diabetes or high blood pressure. Dr. Sujeeth Reddy Bande, Senior Consultant Nephrologist at Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology, Hyderabad, highlights five eye symptoms that may signal kidney issues.

Persistent puffy eyes, particularly in the morning, may indicate proteinuria due to damaged kidney filters.

Blurred vision can result from diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy, caused by blood vessel damage in the retina. Dry or itchy eyes may stem from uremia, a buildup of waste products in chronic kidney disease (CKD), reducing tear production.

Red or bloodshot eyes could be linked to uremia or autoimmune conditions like lupus. Sudden vision loss or changes may signal severe kidney damage or complications, requiring urgent care.

Always consult a doctor for these symptoms to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.
