An FIR has been lodged against 113 individuals in connection with the alleged attack on Mahamandaleshwar Kaushlendra Giri in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on Tuesday night during a confrontation near the Chitragupt Ghat on the banks of the Ganga River.
According to the police, the attack reportedly stemmed from a dispute over land associated with a local ashram. Tensions escalated when a group, believed to be supporters of a rival faction, allegedly assaulted Giri and his aides. The attackers were armed with sticks and rods, resulting in injuries and chaos at the scene.
Giri, a prominent Hindu spiritual figure and a key religious head in the Niranjani Akhara sect, was quickly escorted to safety. Medical assistance was provided, and he is currently reported to be stable.
Authorities have registered a case under multiple IPC sections, including rioting, attempt to murder, and criminal conspiracy. Security in the area has been tightened, and investigations are underway to identify and arrest the culprits.
Local police have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved. The incident has sparked outrage among religious communities, with many calling for immediate justice and protection of spiritual leaders.
