Government Employees Can Now Get Extra 45 Days Leave! See How?

The Indian government has introduced a significant policy granting central government employees up to 42 days of special casual leave for organ donation. Union Minister Jitendra Singh informed the Lok Sabha about this provision, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting organ donors.

As per the Personnel Ministry's 2023 order, employees undergoing any organ donation surgery can avail this leave in one stretch from the day of hospital admission. However, if needed, leave can start up to a week before surgery upon a doctor's recommendation.

This move aims to encourage more individuals to step forward as organ donors without the added stress of work-related concerns. With organ donation remaining a critical need in India, will this policy motivate more government employees to contribute to life-saving procedures?
