Delhi is reeling under an intense heatwave, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert as temperatures are set to climb to a blistering 42°C by April 10. The national capital, along with states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, is bracing for a prolonged spell of extreme heat.
Daytime temperatures in Delhi may reach 42°C as early as April 6 or 7. Central and northwest India are also expected to witness a 2–4°C rise in temperature. Particularly alarming are forecasts for eastern UP, Jharkhand, and Odisha, which may endure up to 11 days of intense heat.
Authorities are urging people to stay indoors during peak hours, keep hydrated, and ensure proper ventilation. Vulnerable groups - children, the elderly, and those with medical conditions - are advised to take extra precautions. Stay tuned to IMD updates and beat the heat safely!
