Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nagpur today to participate in the RSS ‘Pratipada’ programme, which marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. The event also coincides with Gudi Padwa, the Marathi New Year. During his visit, PM Modi will visit the memorial of RSS founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at Reshimbagh and pay tribute to Dr. B R Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi.
As part of the itinerary, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an extension of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute & Research Centre. Founded in 2014 in memory of M S Golwalkar, the institute is a leading super-specialty ophthalmic care facility in Nagpur. The new project will feature a 250-bed hospital, 14 outpatient departments (OPDs), and 14 modular operation theatres, aiming to provide high-quality and affordable eye care services. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will also accompany PM Modi during the program.
Apart from the medical project, the Prime Minister will visit Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd’s ammunition facility and inaugurate a newly constructed airstrip for UAVs, along with a live munition and warhead testing facility.
The visit also highlights the significance of the RSS headquarters, located at Reshimbagh, where the memorial of Dr. Hedgewar is situated. Established in 1925, the RSS headquarters is a simple yet iconic space, housing administrative offices, training centers, and a state-of-the-art auditorium. The premises also include the memorial of Golwalkar, inaugurated after his death in 1973.
PM Modi's visit to Nagpur reaffirms the connection between the government and the RSS while also highlighting the cultural significance of the Hindu New Year celebrations.
