On July 15, 2025, during the SCO Foreign Ministers' meeting in Beijing, India’s External Affairs Minister S. In a post on X, Jaishankar said he “apprised President Xi of the recent development of our bilateral ties” and conveyed greetings from President Murmu and PM Modi .
During discussions, Jaishankar emphasized that India and China have made “good progress” in the past nine months toward normalising ties, particularly through resolving border tensions and restoring people-to-people exchanges like the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. He urged both sides to maintain a “far-seeing approach,” urging de-escalation along the Line of Actual Control and focusing on trade facilitation and open economic cooperation .
Jaishankar also held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Zheng, underlining the need to avoid restrictive trade practices, ensure peaceful border management, and promote stable regional cooperation . The meeting reflects a mutual desire for pragmatic diplomacy and bidirectional engagement.
