Weeks after a controversial observation by another judge, the Allahabad High Court is once again under fire this time for granting bail to a rape accused with remarks that have sparked widespread condemnation. Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh allowed the accused bail, stating that the victim "invited trouble" and was "responsible" for the alleged act.

According to the FIR, the woman, an MA student was heavily intoxicated after visiting a Delhi bar with friends. The accused allegedly coaxed her to his relative's flat in Gurgaon where he raped her twice. The judge, while considering the bail plea, emphasized the victim's age and educational background, suggesting she was capable of understanding her actions.

Despite her torn hymen, the medical report offered no conclusive opinion on sexual assault. The accused, jailed since December 2024, was granted bail based on "circumstances" and absence of a prior criminal record.
