Justice Yashwant Varma, the second senior-most judge of the Delhi High Court, has been excluded from all administrative committees amid allegations of a huge cash stash found at his residence following a mysterious fire on March 14.
A March 27 circular confirmed the reconstitution of 66 committees, with Justice Varma's name conspicuously missing. Previously, he was part of key committees, including Finance, IT, and Grievance Redressal.
The Supreme Court directed an in-house inquiry, with Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna forming a three-member panel to investigate. Photos and videos of the alleged cash discovery were uploaded to the SC website, fueling further controversy.
Justice Varma denied all allegations, stating that neither he nor his family ever stored cash in their residence. Meanwhile, his recommended transfer to Allahabad HC faces resistance from bar associations.
As the probe deepens, questions swirl over the truth behind the allegations.
