Why Picking Black Luggage Isn’t Always Best?

Planning a holiday and considering a new suitcase? Think twice before picking a black one. According to a global survey by Eminent, over 40% of travelers choose black luggage, making it the most common color and the hardest to identify on crowded baggage carousels. Travel expert Jamie Frazer highlights the risk, noting that black suitcases are not only harder to spot but also more prone to mix-ups or loss.

Frazer advises travelers to opt for brightly colored or uniquely marked suitcases to stand out. For those who prefer black luggage, personalizing it with vibrant tags, ribbons, stickers, or patterned straps can make identification easier. These simple steps ensure your bag is quickly spotted, saving time and reducing stress at busy airports.

To further minimize the risk of losing your luggage, Frazer recommends arriving early to allow ample time for correct tagging and loading. He also advises using durable, secure luggage tags with your name, phone number, and email—but leaving out your home address for safety reasons.

While black luggage may seem like a timeless and practical choice, its ubiquity creates challenges in identifying it among countless others. By choosing colorful alternatives or adding personal touches, you can enhance your travel experience and spend less time searching for your suitcase at the carousel. A little effort can go a long way in ensuring your journey is smooth and worry-free.
